Bablex was started in 2017 as a response to a significant gap and need in the international legal market for premier Arabic legal translation and document review services. Since we started, we believe we have gone a long way in filling the quality gap.
Bablex is now a leading translation and paralegal support firm, with work and experience arising from the majority of the Arabic speaking Middle East and North African jurisdictions.
To date, we have provided support on more than 200 international legal matters with an Arabic-English component. Our team is based in London and Beirut. Our success stems from our ability to deal with complex and big matters, our ability to combine civil and common law expertise, and our native Arabic and English language abilities.
Our clients are top international law firms and in-house legal departments in multinational companies. The teams we assist are primarily based in international legal and business hubs such as London, Paris, New York, and Dubai.
Leading Arabic-English Lawyer Linguist
Anees is an English qualified solicitor (qualified in March 2014) and has degrees in English and Lebanese law. He practiced for several years as an international arbitration and disputes lawyer with the international law firm, Herbert Smith Freehills, in London and Dubai.
Anees has particular experience and knowledge in the areas of cross-border litigation and international arbitration. In addition to his common law exposure and knowledge, he has extensive knowledge of civil law principles. He has more than 10 years’ experience in drafting and translating complex legal documents from Arabic into English and English into Arabic (such as bilateral investment treaties, legal submissions, witness statements, legislation and legal advice).
In September 2017, Anees left private practice to set up Bablex. As a law entrepreneur, Anees is keen on helping promote Beirut as an outsourcing hub. In doing so, he hopes to contribute to the wider economic landscape in his home-country Lebanon.
Our name says a lot about our mission.
Bab means door in Arabic and other ancient Middle Eastern languages. Our platform is a door for our clients to find support in their need for any legal support services involving the Arabic language.
Lex brings two concepts together: law (Lex in Latin) and language (Lexicon) represent what we aim to combine.
We are committed to bringing a positive change and creating opportunities wherever we operate, while seeking to further the rule of law and economic development.
We serve clients across the 5 continents and in more than 35 countries.
The majority of our work relates to matters that are managed from the main international business hubs including London, Dubai, New York, and Paris.
